Tips to Creating A Joyous Workspace/Office

As many of us have transitioned to working remotely due to COVID-19 we have had to turn our spare rooms into offices. Your home office should be a comfortable place that reflects not only your style but a place where you can see yourself spending hours of a day in. Consider a few tips to help create your joyous workspace/office:
1. Location is Everything
The most important step in creating a joyous workspace is choosing a room or a particular corner of your home to create your office space. Do you want a space with natural lighting? Little distractions? Once you determine the right space, it is time to layout your office vision and transform your office space with essential home office furniture pieces.
2. Desk
Based on the size of space you have selected to be your office setting determines how big of a desk you can purchase. For smaller areas you may choose to place your desk against a wall and for larger areas you may decide to place your desk towards the center of the room. We want to of course avoid the scenario of buying a desk too big for the space so be sure to measure the space before you purchase a desk. Consider all what you will keep on your desk, will you need built-in storage to keep important notes? Other questions to ask yourself may be what type of finish do you like, wood? laminate? glass? metal?
Having an idea of the type of desk-type you are looking for narrows your search tremendously. Make sure your selection aligns to your vision! If a glam office setting is the vision then likely you are not going to have grandma's bulky antique desk from the 20th century. Choose wisely.
3. Chair
Spending long hours in an office chair means you have to be selective, you will not be able to select the first chair you see. There are many options, rolling chairs, armless chairs, executive chairs... the list goes on and on. Just as you have to invest in the right desk to have the right amount of work space you have to invest in the right chair to have the best comfort!
4. Inspiration and Wall Art
Motivational quotes are a great way to stay motivated throughout the day, whether you are utilizing your office space for business or personal reasons like paying bills, organizing, etc. Wall art is also a great way to add a little color to your office!
5. Aromatherapy
Candles and diffusers create a more pleasant and comfortable environment when selecting the right scents. Consider naturtal essential oils and candles that create serenity, such as: lavender, peppermint, sandalwood, or vanilla.  Blends of eucalyptus also is known to help create a quiet, peaceful, setting.
